HISTORY

The school offers a Four-year Curriculum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The Bulacan State University - College of Nursing is organized and established in December 2003, by virtue of Board of Reagents (B.O.R) Resolution No.65, s.2003, in response to the growing demand for highly qualified and competitive nurses to meet the health necessities of the society, both and international. Soon thereafter, the Nursing Program was formally offered during 1st semester of SY 2004-2005, prior to B.O.R. Resolution No.17, s. 2004, under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), under the deanship of Dr. Norma C. Morala. Initial enrollees numbered close to 200 students, distributed to four (4) sections.

On February 15, 2005 per Resolution No. 4, s. 2005, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) was divided into three Institutes and one College, namely: Institute of Sciences (IS), Institute of Social Sciences and Philosophy (ISSP), Institute of Arts and Letters (IAL) and the College of Nursing (CON). Thus, what was initially a part of the CAS is now a stand-alone College, offering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a four (4)-year program. Enrollees for the 1st semester of 2005-2006 doubled, creating a total of eight (8) sections to accommodate first year students.

The first Dean of the CON is Ms. ADELAIDA G. BORBE, RN, MSN; per office order no. 11 s. 2005 dated May 2, 2005 and ended October 2010. Thru an election and numerous processes, the former Associate Dean, Ms. LOIDA O. CRESPO, MSN, PhD became the next Dean of the College and Ms. Jane Marie Sumodlayon, RN, MAN took the place as the Associate Dean. The College of Nursing is presently supported by capable and experienced faculty/personnel as the College gears itself in meeting the challenges of health promotion, illness prevention and community rehabilitation and satisfies the current need towards being the center for academic excellence for nursing education and research in the country.

In December 6, 2011, the first Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP) Level I accreditation was held and the College pass satisfactorily with few recommendations. Since then, the College was challenge to deliver and respond to what was being asked based on those commendations. Being said that, the College geared to a new level of education based on the demands of occupational markets both local and international that focuses on honing the skills of a student. The College now offers National Competency (NC) Course on Massage Therapy, Health Care Services and caregiving which became operational on June 2014 and accredited by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on June 2015. These courses are being offered to those students who cannot afford financially the four year course of Nursing Curriculum. This new offering is the laddered assistance of BulSU-CON to aspirant Nursing Students that can help them achieve their dreams.

The College of Nursing envisions to be the center of excellence in nursing education where student's talents and skills are horned to the fullest potentials in a culture that promotes highest academic standards.

MISSION

The College of Nursing shall provide holistic instruction and training in nursing discipline reinforced with desirable work habits and competencies capable of responding to the needs of the local and the demands of the global standard of health care.
