The Bulacan State University, spearheaded by the Gender and Development Office (GADC), conducted a program on February 23, 2021 with the theme, “Kababaihan ng Malolos: Huwaran ng Kaningningan sa Panahon ng Pandemya at Pagsubok.”  This is to commemorate the 132nd anniversary of the letter of Dr. Jose Rizal to the Women of Malolos.

The first part of the program was a dedication ceremony as flowers were offered to the monument of our National Hero.  This was led by the University President, Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon with the Honorable Mayor of the City of Malolos, Engr. Gilbert Gatchalian and other BulSU officials.

This was immediately followed by a short program at the Heroes Park where the awarding of certificates to selected women of the University also took place.  Mayor Gatchalian shared a valuable story on how the women of Malolos during the Spanish era had shown eagerness to obtain education and to exercise their rights in the community.  This, he said, is the same reflection of the modern women we have now.

On the afternoon of the same day, a webinar streamed via Facebook with Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz, Head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office of Bulacan, as the guest lecturer.
