COE Greengineers: Planting for Tomorrow

By Univeristy Communications Group

The Local Student Council of the Bulacan State University College of Engineering launched “Greengineer: A Tree Planting Activity” with the theme “Plant Today, Live Tomorrow” on July 28, 2018 at San Mateo, Norzagray, Bulacan. Aware of the fact that global warming has become a major threat to all mankind, the student-leaders collaborated with DENR foresters in the area in planting 1,000 seedlings in denuded areas of the mountainside. The University President Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon and former COE Dean Dr. Romeo Robles took part in the activity along with student volunteers from each of the Engineering Programs.

Being a forester by heart, Dr. Gascon also shared her experiences and expertise to the students as they were planting side by side while stressing the importance of trees in negating the ill effects of global warming. The activity concluded past noontime on the same day.
