BulSU CFO SEACOM: A ”Filipino-Korean” Agreement for Transition and Integration

A smooth and seamless transition and eventual integration of Filipino marriage migrants and children to South Korea into the mainstream of South Korean Society.

On the 9th of December, 2015 at the Office of the Commission on Filipino Workers, the Bulacan State University (BulSU) thru President Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon entered into a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement with the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) and the Southeast Asia Commonality Research Foundation, Inc. (SEACom) for ”a smooth and seamless transition and eventual integration of Filipino marriage migrants and children to South Korea into the mainstream of South Korean Society.” On the 09th of December 2015 at the CFO Office.

The CFO is established through Batas Pambansa Blg. 79 tasked to promote and uphold the interests of overseas Filipinos and to preserve and strengthen their ties with the Philippines. SEACom is an academic non-profit research organization doing research and teaching multiculturalism to marriage migrants and families.

The Parties agree to ”join hands and coordinate efforts and implement activities and programs that will promote the welfare of Filipino marriage migrants and their children in South Korea.” The Memorandum of Agreement is effective from December 2015 to December 2016.
