The graduate education of the Bulacan State University started in summer of 1977 when, as the Bulacan College of Arts and Trades, the institution, in response to the demand, began to offer the degree Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with majors in academic and trade-technical courses under its Graduate Studies unit.

In 1983, the Graduate Studies unit evolved into the Graduate School. The creation of the Graduate School paved the way for the gradual expansion of program offerings. The Doctor of Education in educational management has been offered since 1990. The MAT program was replaced with Master of Arts in Education with more areas of specialization. In 1995, the Master of Public Administration was offered and in 1998 the Master of Business Administration, Doctor of Public Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in educational management were added to the Graduate School programs.

The Graduate School is a member of the Philippine Association for Graduate Education in Region III (PAGE III) and the Graduate Education Association of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines in Region III (GEACCUP III). It is working toward level 3 accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
